HACU presents Fellows with history on Hispanic-Serving Institutions

Members of the government relations staff of HACU and participants of the Dominican American National Roundtable's (DANR) Summer/Fall National Youth Fellowship Program.
Members of government relations staff of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) recently gave a workshop on the role of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) in educating the nation’s future workforce to participants of the Dominican American National Roundtable’s (DANR) Summer/Fall National Youth Fellowship Program.

Fellows were presented information about the history of HACU and HSIs, federal programs for HSIs, HACU’s legislative priorities and recommendations, and the HACU National Internship Program. The participants also spent a week in Washington, DC, and met with representatives from all three branches of government to learn about their role in education policy decisions.

The 2011 Summer/Fall National Youth Fellowship Program, sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund and the National Supermarket Association (NSA), is an initiative coordinated by the DANR Youth Initiative focused on training the next generation of leader advocates in areas concerning education, economic development, immigration and political empowerment.
