HSIs among those attending HACU’s 20th Annual National Capitol Forum in DC, March 23-24

The Hispanic Association and Colleges and Universities (HACU) will host its National Capitol Forum on Hispanic higher education on March 23-24, 2015. The Capitol Forum, now in its 20th year, will provide Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) an opportunity to convene in Washington, D.C., for sessions of importance on advocacy and the role HSIs play in achieving national educational goals for Hispanic higher education success. Day One (March 23):

• U.S. Department of Agriculture Listening Session

• U.S. Department of Education Funding Session

• A free pre-conference workshop - Federal Funding Opportunities

• 20 years of HSI Funding: Lessons Learned and Future Steps

• Key Legislative Proposals in the 113th Congress: Authorization Bills

• The Budget’s Impact on HSIs: Appropriations for FY 2016

• Student Advocacy 101

Day Two (March 24):

• Questions and Answers for Legislative Hill Day

• Federal Funds Accountability

• Capitol Hill Overview and Visits - A box lunch and one-way transportation to Capitol Hill will be provided.

• Capitol Hill visits from noon - 4 p.m. will be scheduled by HACU’s Government Relations office

• Post-Capitol Hill Debriefing

• Capitol Hill Reception: Honoring the Champions of Hispanic higher education in Congress.

 Upcoming deadlines include an ad reservation deadline of Feb. 13, a hotel deadline of Feb. 28 and deadline to register online is March 13. Onsite registration will be available.
