HACU in Guadalajara for its 11th International Conference 

The official opening of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) 11th International Conference 100,000 Strong in the Americas: Challenges and Opportunities for a More Prosperous and Fair Hemisphere, took place on Feb 25, in Guadalajara, Mexico. 

The opening ceremony included welcoming remarks by Lic. Antonio Leaño Reyes, President of the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara; Ing. Jaime Reyes Robles of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Government of the State of Jalisco on behalf of the Governor of Jalisco; Dr. Antonio R. Flores, HACU President and CEO;  and Dr. Tomás D. Morales, Chair of HACU’s Governing Board and President of California State University, San Bernardino. 

The opening ceremony, followed by a plenary session, welcoming reception and dinner, were all part of the first day activities hosted at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. The international conference held Feb. 25-27, included a conference agenda taking place at the conference hotel. An International Student Track was offered for the first time in conjunction with the conference agenda.

Following the Conference, the Universidad de Guanajuato in partnership with HACU held a one day post-conference symposium, Higher Education’s Social Responsibility in a Global Society, Feb. 28, 2015, in Guanajuato.
