HACU Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute set for Oct. 28 in San Diego, Calif. 

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will host its 16th Annual Latino Higher Education Leadership Institute, a31st Annual Conference pre-conference event, on Oct. 28, 2017, from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Thomas A. Saenz President and General Counsel of MALDEF will give a keynote address. 

The afternoon keynote and networking lunch will be followed by a Presidents’ Panel, moderated by Ted Martinez, Ph.D., former President, Rio Hondo College, and featuring President Lorraine Morales, Ed.D., Pima Community College; Chancellor Maria Harper-Marinick, Ph.D., Maricopa Community Colleges; and President Ricardo Solis, Ph.D., Laredo Community College.

Roundtable discussions will include the following topics:

- Diversity and Inclusion – The Changing Challenges of Our Time

- Move up the Ranks: Integrating your Value System to Manage Conflict, Chaos and Cash Flow

- Challenging the Status Quo to Increase Latino/a Representation at the Top Ranks of Higher Education 

- Creating Safer Institutions by Managing Racial and Political Tensions on Campus

- Learning Unwritten Rules and Getting Insider Information from Mentors, Champions and Leadership Development Programs

- Self-Efficacy and Relentless Positivity to Combat Imposter Syndrome
