¡Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund student program merges with HACU student programs

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has announced that student programs once offered by the ¡Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund have merged with the Association’s student programs.

Although the ¡Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund office is no longer operational, its student programs, such as the annual Leadership Institute, regional professional workshops, internships and scholarships will continue to be offered through HACU.

“The programs offered by both organizations have been aligned to maximize opportunities for both students and corporate partners,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores.

HACU’s student track, offered in conjunction with the annual conference, has been renamed the “HACU ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute.” It’s a student program where HACU offers career and leadership development opportunities. Eligible students will also be able to apply to HACU’s Scholarship Program and its flagship HACU National Internship Program.

“It makes sense to bring this student program back to HACU, where the Association already partners with corporations to offer scholarships, internships and leadership development opportunities for students,” said Flores.

According to Flores, in 1993 HACU and the Miller Brewing Company established the ¡Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund program to address the educational needs of the growing Hispanic population. From 1999 through 2017, the ¡Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund operated as a separate non-profit 501(c)(3) organization funded exclusively through corporate, individual and philanthropic contributions. As of 2018, the student programs have been merged with HACU.
