HACU and ASA partner on Ascending Leaders Forums

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has partnered with American Student Assistance (ASA) to launch the Ascending Leaders Forums, which will take place at five Hispanic-Serving Institutions during the 2019-2020 academic year. The initiative serves to increase staff diversity in senior leadership positions at colleges and universities.

The series of one-day events are designed for high school students to gain a better understanding of career opportunities available at colleges and universities, beyond traditional teaching. Students will hear from presenters, meet with representatives from admissions, financial aid and career services offices, and meet college students to learn about student life. A campus tour will be included.

Each Ascending Leaders Forum expects to draw approximately 500 high school students from area Hispanic-Serving School Districts to participate in these higher education career exploration forums.

HACU and ASA is partnering with the following institutions for events in 2019-2020.

  • California State University, San Bernardino
  • New Jersey City University
  • Queens College
  • The University of Arizona
  • University of Houston

HACU has coordinated university tours for high school students at member institutions throughout the country for the past 10 years to raise college awareness among first-generation students and empower them to achieve postsecondary access and success.
