The U.S. Department of Education Issues Guidance for Applying for CRRSAA: Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II)

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is sharing important information for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) released today by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act was passed by Congress and enacted on December 27, 2020. CRRSA allotted $900 billion to provide economic aid to the American people negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Of that money, approximately $22.7 billion was allocated to the Office of Postsecondary Education as the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) II. Information on the release of these funds, as well as frequently asked questions can now be accessed at https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ope/crrsaa.html.

Please note the U.S. Department of Education expects to release information on Title III and Title V, including allocation tables, in the next few days. HACU will send a member advisory when that information becomes available.

After reviewing the website, if you have questions on the proper use and distribution of funds, please email HEERF@ed.gov.

HACU is grateful to the U.S. Department of Education for issuing this guidance and urges the Administration to release these funds as quickly as possible. HACU will continue to advocate for additional COVID-19 relief funding in future relief packages.
