HACU holds the International Plenary, part of HACU’s 35th Annual Conference

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities held the International Plenary, “International Education in the Age of COVID-19: Lessons Learned and Futures Imagined,” on Oct. 27, 2021. The event was part of HACU’s 35th Annual Conference, “35 Years of Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success,” held virtually Oct. 25-27, 2021.

The plenary’s panel discussion was moderated by Sue Henderson, Ph.D., president of New Jersey City University and member of HACU’s Governing Board, and featured the following speakers:

  • President Irma Becerra, Ph.D., Marymount University
  • Chancellor Mike Flores, Ph.D., Alamo Colleges District
  • President Emma Grace Hernández Flores, Ph.D., Uiversidad de Iberoamérica
  • President Garnett Stokes, Ph.D., The University of New Mexico

 

The panel presentation and discussion were followed by a Q&A session.

Two awards were also presented during the event, the Outstanding HACU-Member Institution award, presented to Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the Extraordinary Philanthropic Partner Award, presented to The Sallie Mae Fund.

Edgar Rosillo, tax senior manager for Deloitte and Karla Aguilar, tax consultant and past Leadership Award recipient, presented this year’s HACU/Deloitte Leadership Award to Adrian Navarro a student at the University of Houston.
