HACU announce grantees of the Grow with Google Hispanic-Serving Institution Career Readiness Program

SAN ANTONIO – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities in partnership with Google has launched the Grow with Google Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Career Readiness Program. The initiative is designed to train students for the digital workforce and equip them with fundamental skills for career success through a series of grant-funded workshops at HSI campuses. As part of this initiative, selected HSIs will receive funding for college career service centers to help train 200,000 Latino college students by 2025 in digital skills.

“Ensuring Hispanic-Serving Institutions have the resources available to help students excel in the workforce is crucial in today’s competitive job market,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores. “We are excited to partner with Google on this innovative initiative and collaborate with HSIs to offer career services for students to graduate with the digital skills and training that can expand their employment prospects.”

The Grow with Google HSI Career Readiness Program offers a semester-long in-person and online digital skills program to help students prepare for critical steps in their career journey. Whether preparing for an internship or first job, students will have an opportunity to join interactive video and in-person lessons, participate in activities that help them master key digital and real-world skills, and meet with peers or career counselors for follow-up discussions.

“Google is proud to work with leading Latino-serving organizations to advance access to digital skills and workforce training in the Latino community,” said Ana Corrales, Chief Operating Officer for Google’s Devices and Services. “Together with partners like the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, we aim to help bridge wealth and opportunity gaps for students and workers, so that everyone has an opportunity and inspiration to succeed in today’s digital economy.”
