HACU College and Career Fair-San Diego to offer free public workshops, Oct. 9

The Hispanic association of Colleges and Universities will host a free public College and Career fair on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, from 2–5 p.m. The fair will take place in the Grand Hall-Lobby Level of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego in San Diego, California.

The following workshops will be featured at the College and Career fair:

• Volunteer Work, Internships, Research... Oh My!
Volunteer Work, Internships, and Research are buzzwords we know are important to career growth and landing a job after graduation.

• The Keys to an outstanding resume
Learn how to create a resume that highlights your skills and stands out to recruiters.

• Navigating Admissions and careers in healthcare and public professions
Applying to healthcare and public health professional schools can be challenging. This panel presentation will highlight basic requirements for admissions to public health and physical therapy programs and medical school.

• College Admissions 101
Join us to learn more about the resources and steps needed as you prepare for college admissions. Topics will include recommended courses to be taken in middle and high school as well as what colleges are looking for in an applicant.

• Jobs and Internship search strategies 
The internship and job search process can feel overwhelming at times, but it doesn’t have to be! Join Matt Yepez, Senior Director of the University of San Diego Career Development Center to learn about pro tips and strategies on maximizing your career success and having fun in the process.

• Becoming a Graduate Student
This workshop explains to students the difference between being an undergraduate student and a graduate student. Some of the comparisons the presenter will introduce are what it’s like doing research and working, funding graduate school, and understanding graduate life.

• Ph.D. vs. Ed.D.: How do I know which is the best choice for me?
Are you considering a doctorate degree, but aren’t sure where to start? Join us for a plática with current and recently graduated doctoral students.

The event will give attendees the opportunity to connect with local and national college and university representatives.
