HACU president and CEO receives LATINA Style, Inc. 2023 Excellence Award

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’ President and CEO Antonio R. Flores received the 2023 Excellence Award from LATINA Style Inc. on April 6, 2023. The award was presented as part of the LATINA Style Business Series taking place in San Antonio, Texas.

Flores has been a leading voice of Hispanic-Serving Institutions, which represents more than 500 colleges and universities that collectively serve two-thirds of the nearly 5 million Hispanic students in U.S. higher education. Advocacy efforts have garnered over $4 billion in federal funding for HSIs. 

HACU has grown from 18 charter members to more than 500 member institutions committed to the mission of championing Hispanic success in higher education. Flores, who has served HACU for 27 years, is the third and longest-serving president of the Association.

Other award winners include 2023 Trailblazer Award, Adelina Silva Ph.D., and the Lifetime Achievement Award, retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Juan G. Ayala, director of the Military and Veteran Affairs Department at the City of San Antonio.
