HACU National Internship Program bids farewell to spring interns with virtual ceremony
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities bid farewell to its 2023 spring interns with a virtual ceremony held on April. 14, 2023. The participants were undergraduate and graduate students who served internships with federal agencies across the country, as part of the HACU National Internship Program.
Executive Director of HNIP Diana Vasquez welcomed and congratulated the interns, followed by keynote speaker Javier E. Inclán who serves as the assistant inspector general for management, and CIO of the National Science Foundation’s Office of Inspector General.
Amelia Torres (USDA), Victoria Macali (SEC), Leah Bland (BEP), and Alex Gutierrez (SEC)gave presentations and discussed their experiences within the internship program.
Students participated in these internships for a total of 15 weeks, as part of HACU’s National Internship Program. The following agencies in the Washington, D.C., metro area and field offices throughout the country provided the internships opportunities:
- Small Business Administration (SBA)
- Library of Congress (LOC)
- Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM)
- U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)
- U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
- National Institute of Health (NIH)
- U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI)
- U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS)
- U.S. Department of the Treasury (DOTr)
- Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)
- Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)
- Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
HACU is accepting applications for the 2023 fall internship session. Internship dates are Sept. 4 – Dec. 16, 2023. Applications will be accepted until July 7, 2023. Information about eligibility and online application is available here.
