HACU announces speakers of 12th Annual Deans’ Forum on Hispanic Higher Education

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced the agenda and speakers of its 12th Annual Deans’ Forum on Hispanic Higher Education taking place, Oct. 31, 2023, at the Hilton Chicago, in conjunction with HACU’s 37th Annual Conference. The post conference event will address topics under the theme “Leading a Diverse and Inclusive Workforce in the 21st Century.” The Forum will be moderated by Paul Machen, Ph.D., executive director, Institute for Professional Leadership at HACU.

The keynote presenter will be Salama Ghanem, Ph.D., provost of DePaul University, followed by a presentation from Ilder Betancourt Lopez, Ed.D., vice president, learning and student success at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom.

The Senior Administrator panel will include: Carlos E. Cruz, Ed.D., associate vice chancellor, Dallas College; Arlene Santos George, Ph.D., vice president of academic affairs and workforce development, McHenry Community College; Nikos Varelas, Ph.D., vice provost for academic programs and effectiveness and liberal arts and sciences distinguished professor of physics, University of Illinois Chicago; and Sandra Vasquez, Ed.D., vice president for student affairs, Pitzer College.

The Forum offers deans from colleges and universities across the country an opportunity to dialogue on the state of Hispanic higher education at their campuses, with table discussions and networking opportunities an integral part of the Forum.
