HACU holds Financial Literacy Workshop for Southside ISD families
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities held a financial proficiency workshop, Finanzas en Familia, for Southside Independent School District students and their families at the Menchaca Early Childhood Center on Sept. 27, 2023. The event is part of the Hispanic Financial Education and Competencies USAA Grant Program, equipping students with the skills and knowledge for a successful and prosperous financial future.
Attendees learned how to engage their children in age-appropriate conversations about money-related topics while their children participated in various activities including reading, coloring and play money exercises. This event was the first of a four-part series. Future sessions will include parent/family education about building/maintaining good credit, saving/investing, funding college, and other long-term strategies for financial independence.
