Calling Faculty/Administrators: Applications open for the Spring 2024 Agricultural Export Market Challenge

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA-FAS), are accepting applications for Agricultural Export Market Challenge (The Challenge). The deadline to submit expression of interest form is Dec. 1, 2023.

Faculty/administrators from Minority-Serving Institutions are invited to sponsor a team of 3-5 students to participate. The Challenge is an immersive learning experience using the case study method and role playing to simulate the work that FAS subject matter experts perform every day to increase export opportunities for U.S. food and agricultural products. The simulation will help students accrue knowledge and skills across the disciplines of economics, diplomacy, scientific analysis, marketing, and trade policy.

Program Highlights:

  • In-Depth Learning: Students collaborate in teams, simulating real-world trade issues, and gain hands-on experience in resolving them.
  • Faculty Collaboration: Faculty members are invited to partner with FAS to bolster student learning outcomes and introduce them to promising future careers.
  • Duration & Timeline: The Challenge will span four to six weeks in Spring 2024. It will culminate with online sessions, workshops, and student presentations.
  • Professional Growth: The winning team will enjoy a paid trip to Washington D.C., offering them an opportunity to interact with the leadership of the FAS.

Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement Webinar

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities in partnership with the American Council on Education (ACE) invites HACU members to an enriching discussion on the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement. This critical self-assessment tool has undergone recent revisions aimed at addressing the dynamics of community engagement in academic institutions. National Science Foundation: Enabling Partnerships to Increase Innovation Capacity (EPIIC) Program to host Webinar

The Enabling Partnerships to Increase Innovation Capacity (EPIIC) program is hosting an informational webinar on Thursday, October 25, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. ET. In this session, program directors will provide an overview of the preliminary proposal submission process, program eligibility, and what they look for when they review proposals. Minority-Serving Institutions including Hispanic-Serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges or Universities are eligible to apply.

The EPIIC program aims to provide institutions with training and networking support to develop the capacity and institutional knowledge needed to help build more inclusive ecosystems and enable participation in regional innovation ecosystems, potentially connecting to National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines.

EPIIC awards are expected to be up to three (3) years in duration. Each award will be made at the level of up to $400,000 per recipient institution commensurate with the scope and extent of the activities. Up to 50 institutions are expected to receive awards in each round of this funding opportunity, depending upon availability of funds and the quality of proposals received.

Funding Opportunity: Accelerating Advanced Digital Construction Management Systems Program

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently announced its Accelerating Advanced Digital Construction Management Systems (ADCMS) Program.

The FTA is soliciting proposals for a Program Lead to carry out demonstrations of ADCMS software on transit construction projects and report on the results and experiences, with the purpose of assisting other transit agencies considering adopting ADCMS on their construction projects. The FTA expects this ADCMS demonstration program to consist of the following key program elements:

  1. Overall program management and coordination;
  2. Demonstration of ADCMS on public transportation construction projects;
  3. Evaluation of the demonstration projects centered on the nine program goals;
  4. Development of “lessons learned” documents of project findings and an implementation; guide intended to assist public transportation agencies accelerate the deployment of ADCMS programs;
  5. Additionally, the Program Lead is encouraged to assemble and lead appropriate partnerships to deliver all components of the ADCMS program as described in this Notice.

Eligible applicants for Program Lead include institutions of higher education, including those with MSI status.

Proposal Deadline: Complete proposals must be submitted electronically through the Grants.gov “APPLY” function by 11:59 p.m. ET on February 12, 2024.
