HACU holds the International Plenary of its 37th Annual Conference

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities held the International Plenary, “Transnational Educational Partnerships for Workforce Development,” on Oct. 30, 2023. The event was part of HACU’s 37th Annual Conference, “Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success: Diversifying our Workforce and Strengthening America,” held on Oct. 28-30, 2023, in Chicago.

During the plenary the Exemplary International HACU-Member Institution Award was presented to the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain, in recognition of an institution that has excelled in supporting HACU’s international work. Rector of the Universidad de Salamanca, Ricardo Rivero Ortega, Ph.D., accepted the award.

Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board Member, Carmen Estrada Schaye, Ed.D., announced the U.S. Department of State 43 Hispanic-Serving Institutions 2023 Fulbright HSI Leaders, recognized for their noteworthy engagement with the Fulbright program.

The plenary’s panel discussion was moderated by President of the Universidad de Iberoamérica Emma Grace Hernández Flores, Ph.D. The International Plenary featured the following speakers:

Rector of the Universidad de Salamanca, Ricardo Rivero Ortega, Ph.D.
