HACU announces speakers of its 14th International Conference

The Hispanic Association and Colleges and Universities has announced the speakers of its 14th International Conference “Innovation and Technology for an Inclusive and Diverse Workforce,” taking place on June 3-5, 2024, at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain.

The International Conference begins with an Opening Ceremony on June 3, followed by concurrent sessions. The three-day event includes twenty-four concurrent workshops under the conference theme in four tracks. Simultaneous translation (English/Spanish and Spanish/English) will be provided during the sessions and plenary/lunch events. For an online agenda, click here.

Featured speakers of the plenary session “International Higher Education: A Driver for Innovation and Workforce Diversity,” will include HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores, Ph.D., and Universidad de Salamanca Catedrático Ricardo Rivero Ortega, Ph.D. The session will be moderated by Universidad de Iberoamérica President Emma Hernández Flores, Ph.D.

The plenary session “Generative AI: Opportunities and Threats for Global Higher Education,” featured speakers will include: Conectado Founder and CEO Guillermo Diaz, Universidad de Salamanca professor Juan Manuel Corchado, Ph.D. and Gresol International American School Executive Director Antonio Serrano, Ph.D. The session will be moderated by Marymount University President Irma Becerra, Ph.D.

The final plenary session “Forging a Common Policy Agenda for Pan-Hispanic International Education,” featured speakers will include: Illinois State Senators Celina Villanueva and Omar Aquino, California State Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes, and Consejera de Educación Junta de Castilla y León María del Rocío Lucas Navas. The session will be moderated by HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores.

A Student Track, offered in conjunction with the conference, will include panel discussions and informative workshops related to study abroad and other international education programs. Students will also visit several local universities to see first-hand their academic programs and network with local students attending universities in Spain to exchange ideas and build their professional network.
