Fashion design students awarded scholarships at HACU Annual Conference

Five finalists from the Design Your Future/Diseña Tu Futuro competition presented by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Gap Inc., had the opportunity to walk a fashion runway and earn scholarship funds earlier this month. The event took place during the student track of HACU’s 22nd Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado.

Students enrolled in fashion design programs at a HACU-member institution had an opportunity to submit an illustration of a suit designed for the competition. Five finalists were selected to create the design to model in the final competition. The finalists, who will received scholarships, are as follows:

  • Natalie Andrade of Woodbury University in Burbank, CA, was the recipient of a $5000 scholarship.
  • Michelle Lang of Santa Fe Community College in Santa Fe, NM, was the recipient of a $4000 scholarship.

  • Allison Andrews of University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX, was the recipient of a $2000 scholarship.
