HACU and DOL sign MOU

The Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU) and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) have renewed a partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that represents a commitment to provide educational opportunities to the nation’s Hispanic population in efforts to fill the needs of today’s workforce.

HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores and U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis signed an MOU on May 5 on behalf of the two parties.

HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores and U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis signed the MOU on behalf of the two parties during a Cinco de Mayo event hosted by Secretary Solis on the importance of postsecondary education for Latinos.

The HACU/DOL MOU will focus on efforts to develop initiatives to increase the participation of HACU-member institutions in DOL-sponsored areas of research, technical assistance, recruitment and outreach, and to strengthen the educational, research, job and career training opportunities for students attending HSIs.

The MOU signing extends and expands a partnership begun in 1994.
