HACU releases Legislative Agenda 

HACU released its 2022 Legislative Agenda for the 117th Congress to address Hispanic higher education needs as well as critical K-20 pipeline issues. The top priorities of the agenda were the focus of the 27th Annual National Capitol Forum on Hispanic Higher Education, a virtual gathering held April 5-6, 2022, that also included virtual congressional visits.

Congratulations to the 25 semifinalist of the 2023 Aspen Prize

The Aspen Institute has announced 25 community colleges that are semi-finalists for the $1 million Aspen Prize. The Aspen Prize is the nation’s signature recognition of community colleges that are achieving high, improving, and equitable outcomes for students. In years past, only ten finalists have been named on the road to the winner, and this change is designed to highlight the increased number of colleges across the country doing excellent work.More>>

HACU webinar - May 9 to focus on Public Service Loan Forgiveness

HACU will host a webinar with the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Federal Student Aid on Monday, May 9 at 3 p.m. EST. HACU’s Government Relations staff and Ashley Harrington, senior advisor to the Chief Operating Officer at DOE’s Office of Federal Student Aid, will provide important information on the Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Announcements - Grants

Grant competition is now open for MBDA’s Minority Colleges and Universities project

HACU is pleased to share an announcement on behalf of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). MBDA is actively seeking grant proposals for its Minority Colleges and Universities program. The new grant competition will award $1.8 million in grants to any HBCU, HSI, TCU, ANSI, and NHSI in any U.S. state or territory. The goal of this program is to lay the foundation for a future generation of entrepreneurial leaders and innovators that will help strengthen U.S. global competitiveness, job creation, and the overall U.S. economy. Applications must be submitted to Grants.gov no later than May 25, 2022 at 11:59 PM EST.
