Students at HACU member institutions can now apply for the Southwest Airlines Lánzate Travel Award Program
Students at U.S. colleges and universities have until May 13 to apply for the 2016 “Dándole Alas a Tu Éxito/Giving Flight to Your SuccessTM” ¡Lánzate! Travel Award Program, offered by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines tickets are awarded to Hispanic undergraduate and graduate students with socio-economic needs who journey away from home to pursue higher education. The Big Give SA for HACU is May 3
HACU is participating in The Big Give SA on May 3 and is asking for your help. Proceeds benefit scholarships for undergraduate students to attend HACU’s 30th Annual Conference, October 8-10, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. To read the full story, click here.

HACU accepting commencement stories for The Voice of Hispanic Higher Education magazine
HACU member colleges and universities please submit your commencement news releases for the next issue of The Voice of Hispanic Higher Education Magazine. Along with information on your ceremonies and commencement speakers, please include your logo and related hi-resolution photos. Send to news@hacu.net by May 13.

Accepting applications for the HACU/Solution Generation Climate Leadership Award of $10,000
The online application period for the HACU/Solution Generation Climate Leadership Award is open through June 10. A $10,000 award will be given to a single HACU-member institution deemed by the selection committee to have the most innovative outreach efforts to engage its campus and broader community in climate and sustainability solutions. The institution selected will receive the award on Oct. 10, during HACU’s 30th Annual Conference Town Hall in San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, three runner-ups will be recognized for their important climate and sustainability work on campus. Notification of selection will be made by Oct. 3. For more information, click here.

New sustainability resource for senior administrators
As a member of the Higher Education Associations Sustainability Consortium (HEASC), HACU is also pleased to inform you that “Sustainable Development Primer for Higher Education Presidents, Chancellors, Trustees and Senior Leaders” is now available on the HEASC website http://heasc.aashe.org. This new primer describes the crucial sustainability-related roles and tasks for presidents, trustees and senior leadership and explains how sustainability is a robust national trend in higher education.
